Install & Anchoring
Slab on Grade
Also known as: concrete slab, monolithic slab
When the existing slab works
Most slab-on-grade homes built since 2000 will meet minimum thickness for an above-ground or garage shelter. The installer should core-test or measure exposed edges to confirm. Older slabs or driveways may be thinner than the producer's anchor schedule requires.
When you need a new pad
If the slab is undersized, a small concrete pad (often 4 by 6 feet, 4 inches thick) can be poured next to the existing structure for the shelter. Allow 7 days minimum cure before anchoring; 28 days is the conservative number for full design strength.
